Caring for Your Plant

Plant Care

Snake Plant

Watering: A common problem for this plant is overwatering.  These plants do not tolerate soggy soil; they tend to develop root rot.

  • Water infrequently. Let the soil mostly dry out between waterings. Snake plants do best when you let them be!

Ficus

This category includes: Fiddle Leaf Figs, and Rubber Trees

Watering: Your Ficus will thrive with consistent watering. Let the top two inches of soil dry out, before watering thoroughly.

Bright indirect sunlight is best for this beautiful plant.

Staghorn Fern

Watering. The staghorn fern doesn’t absorb  water through its roots. The best way to water these plants is to mist the daily, or give them a good shower.

  • Watering directly at the roots could cause root rot.

Dracaena

This Category includes: All types of Dracaena and Dragon Trees.

Watering: It's easy to over-water this plant. Be sure not to over water by  waiting until the top half of the soil is dry before watering again.  If the plant has yellow leaves, this is often a sign it needs more water.

Chinese Evergreens

This category includes: Silver Bay & Chinese Evergreens

Watering: Chinese Evergreens thrive in evenly moist soil with high humidity. Water the plant until the soil is moist. And allow the soil to dry out between watering.

ZZ Plant

Watering: The ZZ plant is a resilient plant, but you still need to care for it! Allow the soil to dry out at the touch between watering. It's best not to overwater this plant to avoid root rot.

Orchid Care

Orchids should be allowed to dry out some between waterings. To check if the plant needs water you can poke your finger about an inch into the growing media. If it’s dry, give it some water; otherwise, let it dry out a while longer. Orchids also need adequate humidity. Place a pebble tray filled with water beneath the orchid, so it can absorb some moisture. You can also mist the plant frequently, or use a humidifier.
